INTRODUCTION

African Youth with Disabilities’ Network (AYWDN) is a Continental Network bringing together Youth with disabilities to work towards inclusion of youth with disabilities issues in their respective countries and across borders. The network was founded in May 2011 following a convening that was held in Kenya from 12 African countries to champion the agenda of youth with disabilities on the continent, which has been missing in development circles. The Sierra Leone Chapter is a Member of this global Movement in Africa and started its operation in 2012. With support from Open Society Initiative West Africa (OSIWA), it established its secretariat and officially launched AYWDN – SL in 2014.

MISSION

AYWDN’’s mission is to “influence international,       continental, regional and national laws, policies and programs through partnerships and advocacy for the equalization of opportunities and enjoyment of rights for youth with disabilities”
